Feedback on configuring internet on Win-2003 Server

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

I have a client with a Windows 2003 server with Exchange.

Their old (and very slow) adsl1 accounts has been switched over to adsl2+ with a new ISP.

But there was a hitch at the exchange and it may be a day or two until it is fixed.

I have configured a Draktek Router (2820) with a 3G modem, which is working fine here.

( the IP address is 192.168.1.254 to match the gateway of the network which the old modem used )

I took it out on site & noted that these are the current setting on the server:

IP of server: 192.168.1.200

Sub Net 255 255 255 0

Default Gateway 192.168.1.254

DNS: 192.168.1.200

Primary Wins 192.168.1.200

I assumed it would just work, but it doesn't ! I guess the DNS is the thing.

I was reluctant to start playing around with settings as I could not get everyone off at the time ( Doctors Surgery ), but am going back tomorrow to play around!

If any one could off some advise on how to configure this, I would be most grateful...

regards, Dave
