Can someone tell me if it's possible to do this.....

I want to RAID 2 X 20 GB disks in a mirroring array. I also want to put a partition on as FAT 32 and another partition as NTFS (2 GB as FAT 32 and 18GB as NTFS) as I want to dual boot between Win98 and XP Pro.

Is this possible? <_<

Timeforabeer. Can't answer your question but why do you want to mess about like that? :o

Dual booting, partitioning, etc. Didn't have all that on the Spectrum or Amiga. :P

What are the advantages/disadvantages of it all? :(

I don't understand it, like the BIOS, why update when everything is running smoothly? :D

Cookie..

In answer to your questions firstly,i want to know if it can be done and to see if i am capable of doing it. Most of my knowledge of pc's (not much i know) has come from doing things like this, and learning through experience.

Secondly..My Mo/bo has a RAID bios on it and has two spare ide sockets on it, also, i have several spare hard disks in caddies...so..why not?

It won't do any harm and, I might learn something useful.

As for the dual booting and partitoning....I have posted elsewhere (here and on PCA) about problems i have with my printer resolutions in XP Pro. Despite advice from madboy and others, the problem remains. It would be easy to buy a new printer, but again...why?

If i can do what I intend to to ,then it won't cost me a penny and hopefully i should learn quite alot.

I like your style but on your head be it. I used to mess about with various bits and pieces on the Speccy and Amiga, even deleting files to see what would happen. Spent a lot of time re-formatting/installing. That's why I'm as old as I am now. :P

Regarding your printer settings. I guess you've updated to XP drivers, if there are any. If there are no XP drivers, see if there is anything for 2000. Sometimes that works. Sometimes Generic drivers work OK.

Yep, same here. I carried on the bad habits when I first changed to PC, spent many late nights/early mornings trying to sort myself out. I can't remember which year but if you look at the highest profits Kleenex ever made, that'll be the year.

Have you got it sorted yet?

After i started this post on sunday...I was about to have a go at it ,when, my mate PM'd me about a problem with WMP9. Didn't mind too much as it gave me a chance to have a go on that remote assistance jobby. Sorted his problem ok..but i didn,t realise his mum and dad were looking over his shoulder when i started his downloaded porn film off before he could stop me.....

The return PM was sulphorous to say the least......ooops
