trance Posted October 1, 2010 Report Share Posted October 1, 2010 Hello,I have a problem with my Windows 7, i have broadband internet conection, it work fine on XP, if i try to download my drivers from Nvidia.com with windows HP,i download with 2-4 MB, if i try with Windows 7 the same site, the same download the speed is between 200-300 KB.I dont have any antivirus(only windows defender) firewall OFF, i just reinstaled my windows7 and didnt solved my problem.When windows is updating the internet speed is very good(windows updates downloaded 230 MB in less than 5 min) but in browsing the speed is very low, not only with internet explorer,i tryed chrome, firefox etc.i must wait 20 secounds just to load yahoo site in my browsing, i dont know what is blocking my network for other softwares.like i said the speed is so good when windows download updates, i tested my network cable on windows XP and the internet speed is good like i said, is something with Windows 7. does anybody can help me please to find a solution? Of is the XP machine a different computer than the Win7 machine?Not a good idea to run without an anti-malware program, or with your FW turned off. It is fine to disable them momentarily for testing, but once you determine they are not the problem, enable them again. And note that Windows Defender is an anti-spyware program only and has essentially been replaced with the very capable Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). trance Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Share Posted October 1, 2010 all the test i made it was on the same computer, windows xp vs windows 7.i instaled windows esentials as antivirus and turned on my firwall(i dont have any virus,yesterday i reinstaled Windows 7 to test if that helps me with that problem)forgot to say that i have windows 7 professional,and that i buyed new NIC(realtek rtl8139/x810 family fast ethernet) but the problem is still there.i dont want to get back on XP, because it cost me a lot of money this windows when i buyed himi just downloaded Linux free edition form their oficial site with utorent(and the speed was good 2-4 MB)but in browsing i got only 200-300 kb.sry for my bad english. trance Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Share Posted October 2, 2010 here is the problem i found, i reinstaled XP and it was with internet explorer 6, i worked very well fast browsing and fast download 2-3 mb, i upgraded to internet explorer 8 and the download and browsing become low like in windows 7, and the same happened to chrome browsing, firefox etc.then i downgraded to internet exporrer 6 again and the network was fine again( browsing but if i have internet explorer 8 instaled browsing and download in browsing is slow but if i download Linux free edition from Linux site i download with 2-4 MB only if i download it with utorent.
