deleting internet explorer

I am using windows 7 and deleted the shortcut to internet explorer. I have tried deleting internet explorer through programs files and deleting it as administrator as well however I am unable to delete it. A pop-up comes up that reads "you require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this folder". I use firefox and Internet Explorer randomly opens itself and then laggs. This is such an annoying issue. Any help is appricated.

Internet Explorer can be removed via Add/Remove Windows Components.

Hi Kitchwa,

Internet Explorer 8 comes built-in with Windows 7 so you will not be able to uninstall it from your Windows 7 computer. If you are having issues with Internet Explorer, I recommend resetting Internet Explorer settings back to default. This will allow you to start fresh with Internet Explorer. To do this, open Internet Explorer > Click Internet Options > go to Advanced Tab > and click on Reset tab. Restart IE. This step deletes all temp files, disables any add-ons, plug-ins, toolbars and also resets all changed settings to default.
