y2khardtop
I have an old plotter that requires a serial port. I can use a USB-Serial adapter, but I have to reboot the PC and restart the printer between EACH job, or it just plots giberish. If I install a PCI Serial RS232 card, will that be as dependable as an older motherboard base serial port????? I know it will give me the "plug" I need, I just want to make sure the drivers and software will work the same. Thanks
-pops-
It should work as a normal motherboard serial port.I put the italics there because a machine my son has which I fitted with a similar type of port just refuses to accept the PCI card although everything else on the machine works OK and the card works OK in other, very similar, machines. One of life's little mysteries
