frederick Posted December 17, 2010 Report Share Posted December 17, 2010 My system will not shut down when I click on to "shut down" or "restart" buttons. The only thing that I added to the system prior to situation was a HP Personal Media Drive 1TB. Does Windows 7 have an issue with this Drive or is there some other issue? bludgard Posted December 17, 2010 Report Share Posted December 17, 2010 Hi,frederick.Welcome to Windows Forum.If you remove the drive are there any problems?You may get an idea of what is causing this by browsing around in Event Viewer.Under Custom Views,check the Administrative Events for repeat entries. Then use something like http://www.eventid.net/ to try and nail down the culprit(s).Happy hunting.As a side note:A friend of mine had a similar problem.I think he broke the disk and was able to use it.Something to do with formatting SATA I think.I'll probably see him tonight.If so I'll ask what his deal was again.If it's relevent,I'll post back.;) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bludgard Posted December 18, 2010 Report Share Posted December 18, 2010 Yeah.Break the disk.Then format it to whatever you want with the two halves.You do use this drive for backup or...?I don't know the ends and out of it yet.Let me know how it goes for you. edit:by "break" I mean to divide it...in half.I thought there was a DOS command line for it but....
