Seemed to have updated from 32 bit to 64 bit successfully. Before I did it, I did a complete image backup of my C: drive with Macrium to a stand alone drive. Now I have a problem restoring the backup. It says C: is locked.

Before I tried the backup I loaded a number of program files (incl email, Firefox etc). Perhaps I should have done the backup restore first.

Now, can I partition the C: and make another drive to restore the backup?

Thanks

Reg

I'm confused. Note an "image" is just that, an image. So if you did an image of your 32-bit system and try to restore it, you will restore your 32-bit image. Is that what you want?

So am I. When I did the 'backup' - it said 'will create an image of the partition... saved as a file that can be used for a full system recovery...'.

I think I will go to a techy and get it sorted out.

Thanks

Restoring an imge of a 32-bit system will bring back that 32-bit system as it was at the time the image was made.

The fact that you have subsequently upgraded to 64-bit is irrelevant as the 32-bit image will over-write it.
