Ghostnotes1970
I have been reading that this can be done, and what i basically want to do is be able to access my home email from anywhere.I know there are many software suites that will do this but i am totally against 3rd party/cloud based oversight. It will be strictly for home use and i don't mind dumping both into the same place. All of the searches i have done applies to home and office integration so i kind of lose sight of how it would apply to my case...if at all. A simple set of instructions on how to set this up would be very appreciated.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I am a bit confused by the subject line and the text of your topic...So you have an Exchange Server at home; or does your ISP have an Exchange Server? And the POP3 server is a different one?And when you say you want to access your home email from anywhere, do you carry your computer with you, or you use a different computer at different locations? andsome
Your ISP should have a web page from which you can access your e mails via web mail. I can pick up my e mails anywhere in the world from Virgin, by entering my password and user name on their web site. Is this what you mean? Ghostnotes1970
What i have at home is a POP3 and what i want to do is be able to access outlook from anywhere ether by Exchange server or Imap??? Not sure about the second one though. I know i can access my in box through my ISP, but it has it's limitations.I'm just looking for a reasonable way to be able to get in,view, change appointments etc. I am totally against anything 3rd party or Google to do so.Make sence
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Still not clear if you "anywhere" want to access your mail with your computer, or you use a different computer. If you travel with your computer, then you can just leave the settings as they are - just connect to the Internet and Outlook should be able to collect your mail.If you talk about getting your mail at home and at the office for instance, then you could either use POP3 (with the option to leave a copy of the message on the server), or IMAP if your ISP supports it.If you travel without a computer and want to access your mail from someone else's computer, then the web access option as suggest by Andsome is the way to go.
