Does anyone have a solution to this?. An important wordpad document have been damaged by too many saves, about half the text is gone and replaced with these characters \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ .

I had the same problem with a .doc document a year ago and found a simple solution on a forum, i could fix it in the word program, but i cannot remember what i did to fix it = /.

I have tried to highlight all the text and change the text to Arial, etc. I have also tried to copy the text and open the document in other programs without success.

Too many saves does not damage a document. That Word Repair program is great, but the OP said he is having problems with a WordPad document. Not sure a Word recovery program will help with a doc damaged in WordPad. If you can pull your WordPad doc into Word, then run that program, it is worth a try, but much depends on how it was damaged, and to what extent. But since you report you have tried to open it with other programs, I don't hold out much hope.

In the future, if you have Word, I might suggest you use that instead of WordPad because you can set Word to automatically save a back up every few minutes. I suspect the free OpenOffice lets you do the same thing.
