The operating system choices for preload on my new laptop are:*Windows 7 Home*Windows 7 Professional*Windows 7 UltimateAm I right in assuming that if I get Professional that I should be able to get connected to the work network?Sorry if this is bleedingly obvious, clearly the work techs were not exactly helpful in answering this question. -pops- Posted February 4, 2011 Report Share Posted February 4, 2011 In principle there shouldn't be compatibility problems but, it is possible that your "work techs" could install blocks to prevent you doing so - especially if they have profit reasons to do so. More exactly, it would be easier to set the work system up to use only approved machines by installing a code or key on the network (may well be one there already) to which you don't have access. The laptops are provided by a govt department (employees pay them off through salary sacrificing) so profit is not really the issue. They're just not used to dealing with people who prefer to purchase their own laptop instead of using a Thinkpad or Macbook.
