Win7 as a NAS

Hi,

Let me first state that I'm not a professional network engineer by any means just an enthusiastic user and I've hit a bit of a snag, here's what I'm trying to do.

I've got a few machines and PS3 on my gig switch LAN. My "Server" is a Win7 Pro machine with a software RAID00 of 2TB which is mirrored by RAID1, everyone is on the same workgroup and I have some-what a limitation in that one of the machines on my LAN is running Win XP (Home).

On my RAID0 drive I've set up two folders in the root directory

Shares\

User\

Within shares\ is all my media that I am streaming to consoles via WMP12 and standard file sharing which I'll map on local machines later, this directory is set up as public read/write access type directory and is working great, the problem I have is that I have two user accounts that I want only the users on the work group to be able to access.

Is there a way I can define this without a domain as that's how I would normally just get this working of course but can't as I don't have a server.

FYI, I have a copy of WHS which I no longer want to use as it's not up to the same speed for media streaming to consoles (thankfully it's such a cheap OS). I noticed that it's faking AD by user accounts but I can't seem to replicate this on a Win7 machine.

Also I want to avoid the users having to type in a UN and PW each time they access the user\ folder which I'm assuming can be overcome by mapping on the local machines.
