dbvirago Posted April 18, 2011 Report Share Posted April 18, 2011 One of my users has an XP pro machine that insists Outlook Express is the default email program. In Internet Options/Programs, Outlook is selected as the default email program. In Outlook Tools/Options/Other, Make Outlook the default email program is checked. If I start Outlook Express and look at options, it states that OE is NOT the default email program. If I go to control panel and click on Mail, Outlook is the only profile. I have changed each option, applied it, restarted machine, changed it back, etc. with no luck. Checked the registry entry under clients/email and the default is listed as Microsoft Outlook. Yet if I click Start/Run and type in mailto:whatever OE starts up. I have an app that uses email and it keeps trying to default to OE, which produces a MAPI error.
