Stop Windows7 from Switching to Active Application...

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Does anyone know a way in which upon opening a file, you may keep windows from switching to it's parent application? Instead I would like to have Windows simply open it in the background, making it less invasive. Is this something you can achieve globally, or is it an issue within each application?

Thanks.

In most cases, it is up to the program you open, but it is normally assumed you want to use the most recent program you start. A program MAY have an option to minimize when open, but don't count on it. If you use a shortcut to open, check the shortcut properties, then the "Run" option. The default is Normal, but the minimize option MAY work for you.
