I re-installed windows vista, and now when I go to download windows updates or virus protection updates it goes at 1 kb/s If I'm lucky. The cable works fine I used it on other computers. I can load websites but it takes ten to fifteen minutes. Is there something I need to open in Windows defender to tell it to allow internet better. I can watch movies on my xbox from my computer. So it is connected but it just will not allow for fast transfer of anything. Its frustrating as hell so someone please give me some ideas. Boris Posted August 21, 2011 Report Share Posted August 21, 2011 What sort of internet connection do you have ?Cable or ADSL ?Are you connecting via a modem or a router ?Does the internet work OK for things other than you have mentioned ?When you re-installed Vista did you also install the drivers for all the devices on/attached to your motherboard ?
