Another Excel question...

Recommended Posts

I have a text (txt) file that contains tab-separated data, and I need to convert that to an Excel doc.

No problem, I can just open it with Excel, and depending on the version, it will perform the conversion upon opening.

However...

There are some columns that contains numbers (ISBN, to be exact), like 0099778815, 0804811199, 1880656310, etc.

When the converted document opens, these numbers show with leading zeroes truncated (99778815, 804811199, 1880656310). It doesn't matter if I format the column as text; the leading zeroes do not show.

Does anyone know how to get these leading zeroes to stay?

Thank you!

P.S. just in case you want to know why I need these leading zeroes; I need to compare (join) them with another Excel doc that has these numbers complete with the leading zeroes.
