JJTech
For some reason, I am all of a sudden getting Blue Screens of Death for the past 2 weeks. What I have done: 2 system restores, 1 going way before I had any trouble.Full scans with MS Security EssentialsRan Memtest86+ for 7 hours for what I believe is 3 passesUninstalling recent programsChecked driver and chipset updatesEverything in Device Manager looks finePulled the few remain hairs from my head! Specs on my system: - Gateway PC model GM5632E – Complete specs - http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/1014739R/1014739Rsp2.shtml- Windows 7 64 bit (upgraded from Vista 32 bit over 1 yr ago)- 8 GBs Corsair 2 x 4 GB kits(upgraded approximately 2 months ago from 3 GBs)- Running old Sony TV off of graphics board via S Video to RCA for Windows Media Center- Running X10 system via USB port as well as installed program on my system What have I been doing in the 2-4 weeks: - A lot of “music identification” and organization via programs like Metatogger 4, MPTagThat, FastDuplicateFileFinder, MediaMonkey.- I noticed that the crashes started after I had tried a program called zbar to give you a task bar on the 2ndmonitor but it wasn’t even a installed program. It was just an executable that I erased. As mentioned, I have also done 2 system restores since then.- Started running IE9 I have noticed: - Various apps have been crashing such as Outlook 2007 much more than ever before, today Dropbox which has never crashed, IE9, Windows Media Center- Monitor going black for a second and then a change in the color or transparency of thetask bar. I don’t know how to read mini dumps or full dumps buthere is a collection of both plus screen shots of BSOD and Memtest86+: Mini Dumps:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6350326/BSOD%20%20Windows%207%20100811-26515-01.zip Full Dumps:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6350326/MEMORY%2010-15-11.zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6350326/MEMORY%2010-18-11.zip Screen shots of BSOD and Memtest86+:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6350326/BSOD%20%26%20Mem86%20results.zip Your help would be greatly appreciated. Makcalable
From what I can make out buddy this is related to your memory and your drivers but don't know what driver it is that is causing your issue. So it is possible RAM Issue and Driver Issue It can be helpful to use Driver Verifier; To enable Driver Verifier... start > verifier.exe > OK > Create standard settings > Next > select driver names from a list > Next > sort by Provider > select all non Microsoft drivers > Finish, and OK.Then, reboot and use the system as you normally would, and wait to see how you go. In the event that the system does not boot completely after enabling driver verifier, boot into Safe Mode and run driver verifier, and tell it to delete the changes!! JJTech
Thanks Makcalable. I don’t need to back up my data do I? I mean this won’t “let me back in” or cause a situation that I can’t get back to where I am now will it? JJ
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
What are the BSOD error codes, and are there any drivers named on the BSOD(s)?
JJTech
Would that be listed in the screen shots of the BSOD? If so, they are below. If not, how do I get those for you? JeffHarris
Restart the computer and keep pressing F8 until the Advance boot options menu comes up.select Safe Mode and hit EnterThis time you won't see the computer blue screen error. When the welcome screen comes up select Administrator and enter administrator's password(if you have one).Click on the START button and navigate to the Accessories folder. There you will see a folder entitled "System Tools," navigate to that folder and click on System RestoreIn the System Restore program, make sure "Restore my computer to an earlier time" is selected and click NEXT.Choose a date on the calendar that you want to restore your computer and click NEXT.The last page of the System Restore will pop up with your date that you have chosen and click NEXT. The system will reboot and the computer blue screen will be gone check here for more solutions that might help you fixing BSOD.http://www.techyv.com/questions/what-causes-blue-screen-death-bsod-and-how-can-i-fix-it

Comtech247
Check your memory with memtest86. Let it run overnight and see what it comes back with. BSOD is nearly always memory issues or dodgy drivers. It is always good form to back up your data too!!
JJTech
I finally got a chance to stress the drives today. It crashed around 10pm but it didn't reboot automatically (or “manually”) as it is set to under "startup and recovery" nor can I find the memory.dmp that I thought was supposed to be under C:\ or any place on the C drive. I finally had to go into safe mode and disable verifier.exe to get it to reboot. One other peculiar thing is that at times, when I click on a selection, I will get a different selection, i.e. click on a folder and get a different one. What do you think? Thanks,JJ
JJTech
Hey Everyone, I hate to jinx myself or speak too soon but it looks like I found the problem. Nvidia mistakenly sent me a 32 bit graphics driver which somehow installed. Last Thursday I found this and replaced it with a 64 bit as I am running Windows 7 64 bit. No BSOD so far! I am crossing my fingers. Just thought you may want to know FYI. Thanks to everyone that helped me! JJ
