devvs
Hello. Few years ago I bought Windows Vista Home Basic x32 ONLY. Now I need OS processing on x64 CPU architecture. Can I somehow, using Windows Anytime Upgrade, upgrade my old OS to new x64? Maybe I can firstly upgrade it to Win Vista Home Premium x32 and then to x64? Also, I wanted to ask you if you really can feel the difference in functionality using x64 OS (ofcourse, on x64 CPU) instead of x32 (on the same x64 CPU). Thank you in advance and sorry for my poor language (I am not english native speaker).
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
No, you cannot upgrade from 32-bit OS to 64-bit OS; you need a complete reinstall. If I were in your situation I would use the occasion to upgrade to Windows 7.Yes to your second question; it is a very big difference from 32-bit computing to 64-bit computing; where given a choice, you can now install and run 64-bit software, e.g. Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, Waterfox instead of Firefox, etc. You can almost feel how these softwares can now run in 64-bit memory space instead of being limited to the 2GB in a 32-bit environment.
