Windows basic to Windows Proffesional/Premium

Hii all,

I want to know whether it is possible to upgrade windows basic to proffesional or premium OS. I have genuine Windows Basic installed in

my laptop. Do I need any other extra license keys to upgrade the same. Will it harm my data's in any way.

What version of Windows are you using - Vista or Windows 7 ?

How much will it charge me for upgrading the same? Also, I would like to know, how to change the desktop icons like 'my computer' in Windows 7 Basic

In Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States only, you have the option to buy an upgrade key online. If you are in another region you will have to buy an upgrade copy locally.

I was just curious, and tried to upgrade my Windows 7 Professional using "Anytime Upgrade". It seems impossible; I cannot find a way to go through with it.

At the end I have a panel that shows me how to change my locale, but no way to upgrade. They sure make it difficult...
