How to disable printer status balloons in system tray?

We connect to Windows Server 2008 R2 via Citrix terminal server.

When we send documents to a printer, we get a balloon pop-up from the system tray (right end of taskbar) confirming the action taken in respect of the print job.

We used to get two balloon pop-ups, one generated by the printer driver installed by the printer manufacturer and one (apparently) generated by the Windows OS.

We have successfully suppressed/disabled the balloons generated by the printer driver, but cannot work out how to do it in respect of the message generated by the operating system.

Ideally we would prefer it if the message saying that the job has been successfully printed were suppressed but other messages (ie print job failure) were reported by balloon pop-up as normal.

Failing that, we would prefer it if all balloon pop-up messages were disabled or suppressed.

Failing that, we would prefer it if the display time of those pop-ups were reduced to a minimum.

We have asked our IT support company for assistance and they have drawn a blank (indeed both IT support companies have drawn a blank, following a recent change of contractors).

Any ideas from you guys?

Thanks

It is pretty easy to disable all systray notification balloons, but it may be difficult to just turn off certain notifications.

In Windows 7 it may be interesting to look into "god mode" (http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=43698

In Windows XP try Tweak UI (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-xp
