Lost files on Restore

I recently needed to Backup all my files and also do a System Image Backup, on the advice of a member, to solve a problem. Once the problem was resolved I Restored all my files, but I have found several Application files missing and, also, my entire e-mail contents have gone missing. How do I get this stuff back ?

How do I get this stuff back ?

Short and to the point. - You probably wont get this stuff back. You have made a mistake somewhere along the line doing your backups. When you back things up you should always verify it straight away afterwards.

Lost data is one of the downfalls we have all suffered in the past, and is part of the learning curve. It makes you that much sharper the next time you start tinkering around with things.

Read up on mounting your system image and see if you can spot your missing "stuff"

Read up on ways of reclaiming lost data. - I'll give you a go-good-start with the following three links:

(1.) (2.) (3.)

Install: Everything Search Engine on your computer, and start a scan for the names you can remember of your missing "Stuff". It may not be missing at all, - Just mislaid somewhere. This baby will find things quick. - If they are there of course !

For data recovery I would personally recommend EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional

If you are going to become a constant cock-up computer user ( As am I ) at £55.34 ($89.95) it will prove it's worth time after time believe me.

If you are going to start scanning for lost data, be prepared for days of scanning rather than hours to see results in some cases.

Don't rely heavily on the back-an-forth questions, and lengthy threads of the forum format. Some of the answers come from personal experience, - most come from where you can find them yourself. - Google. -

So, Read. Research.

Using someone else's brain will do nothing to sharpen your own.

Time spent typing, - can be better spent fixing. :)

John.
