How to reinstall windows?

Recommended Posts

Hey :) Ok, so I have an Acer x32 bit. It was originally Windows Vista but I upgraded it to Windows 7. The org computer didn't come with any disks or anything BUT there are 2 WIndows 7 disks (I think one is for random extra software but I'm not sure)

So anyways, I decided to restore my computer to factory settings. After it restarted, it asked for the windows install disk. I entered both my Win 7 CDs butit would not accept them.

The Windows 7 is genuine and I had no problems installing it way back. I have the CD key too.

What do I do? Why isn't detecting? Will it install back to Vista or 7 ?

Somebody told me to do something with BIOS. Can you please give me a full walkthrough or even a good link.

Thanks :D

You cannot install Vista using a Windows 7 disc. I've never acually had reason to install Vista from 7, but I've heard these step by step directions on reinstalling Vista work: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/genuine/product-key?siteID=rGMTN56tf_w-Hiiy2R9mOWjMMYMS7ub5Mg . When it asks for a product key, find the sticker on your computer (usually on the bottom if its a laptop, back if its a pc) that says Windows Vista on it and use the product key on that.

If that doesn't work try searching ebay for a vista oem disc by Acer and use your Vista product code on that.
