What's going on with Windows 8 apps?

So I was all hyped up to install Windows 8.1, but it seems that Windows Store and all the other apps refuse to work. They crash immediately upon launch, or they don't even bother to launch at all.



Many people seem to be complaining about this. I've tried all the "fixes" but none of them have worked.
