I have a old oem copy of windows 7 thats been used when I built my computer a few years ago. I'm planning on building a new pc come tax season want to use the free key on the pc i am going to build. I was hoping I could just download a copy of 8.1 onto a dvd or usb stick but the link the contest gave me makes you use the key to update your os rather than give you a downloadable copy of 8.1. So I was thinking, can I install the already used oem windows 7 to my new pc and then upgrade to windows 8.1 using the free key I got.
