jaymak11
Not sure if this is right forum, but I've tried a few others with no luck. For one of my laptops I have a Win7 and WinXP, I added an external dvd drive to win7 (thin screen, no dvd drive) and it worked last year but this year it refuses to work on Win 7. However it still works on XP. Could this be a Windows issue, or do I need a new external drive or both?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
What exactly means "refuses to work"?
jaymak11
When I plug the dvd driver with a software into my Win 7 laptop, the driver doesn't do anything. Nothing. No hum, no buzz nothing. And it doesn't show on My Computer either. No icon anywhere of the software However it works on XP. It worked on both laptops a year ago, but now the Win7 seems dead. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Assuming it's a USB connector, can you try another port?
Irene
In my research for your problem, I came across the following which relates to an external hard drive, but I wondered if the same principle might apply:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/dd9cd509-f9ac-4295-a75b-863f92f5595f/windows-7-notices-but-does-not-see-external-usb-hard-drive?forum=w7itprohardware
