Windows 8.1 install issues

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Apologies if I'm asking daft questions.

I bought an acer aspire Xc-603 which comes only with dos installed.

I purchased windows 8.1 pro from Mr high tech, received my code and downloaded the 64bit version and burt the iso onto a DVD. I then booted from the DVD.

I managed to start installing but it came up with a compatibility report telling me - "the computer started using the windows installation media. Remove the media and restart your computer so windows starts normally. Then, reinsert the media and restart the upgrade".

There is obviously something wrong as It seems to be assuming there is a version of windows already installed??? Have mr high tech given me the link for the wrong thing? I checked and was quite sure I don't need windows 8 installed first to install 8.1?

Any help much appreciated.

Regards,

Jon
