Although it's managed before.I've unplugged (manually by their leads) all other USB devices. Completely uninstalled the Canon software, done a complete reinstall, according to manufacturers instructions and still got nowhere. doug Posted October 15, 2003 Report Share Posted October 15, 2003 I had comparable problems with my Canon IXUS V. I had to do a complete search and remove all the legacy TWAIN drivers. Had to do a find and remove Win 98SE. Then re-installed and eventually all was OK. I found that abortive re-install's kept leaving residues behind. I've also had W98 on this drive, since I used to double boot with W2K, although I have set the PC just to see W2K now. Could the software be trying to access across OS's? doug Posted October 15, 2003 Report Share Posted October 15, 2003 That's the sort of problem I first ran into. I'd had probs with an IBM HD so I had a spare that I was running 98 on. Got a new HD and loaded 98 on to that as well came up un a funny directory. After a lot of faffing on got round to the problems I described. So I laboriously copied files and did a "clean" installation. Then tried to reload the camera. Eventually found the probs by clicking on start/find/files-folders and typed in the twain USB code - can't remember exactly what now. Was all of 5 mins ago :D . The number of references that came back was amazing. Mind I had ha several goes at installing the camera. It took out the Black widow scanner as well. The re-loaded from scratch and all was then well. I hope someone can give more specific advice. I found the Canon manual sort of helpful by following the uninstalling the USB Twain drivers. The codes it came up with I used in the search method I described above. moon Posted October 15, 2003 Report Share Posted October 15, 2003 I had Twain driver probs all last week with a scanner. Tried everything,including digging in the registry. Eventually installed 98SE over itself and the first reboot picked up the scanner straight away. Cost me nothing in time except to reset my network settings. All software and other settings intact. Don't know what I might do about it yet so I'll just sit and ponder a while.
