Guest Grim Reaper Posted November 15, 2003 Report Share Posted November 15, 2003 This is more a broadband tip if you are on Dialup or Using XP Home DO NOT USE! Apparently XP Pro reserves 20% of network bandwidth by default. If you are handy and can follow directions you can remove this restriction pretty easily. Go to your Start Button and click " run ". Type in " gpedit.msc " and press " enter ". Expand " Computer Configuration ". Expand " Administrative Templates ". Expand " Network ". Expand "QoS Packet Scheduler".Double-click the " Limit Reservable Bandwidth " key and check the " Enabled " item on the " Settings " tab. Change the " Bandwidth Limit % from Twenty (20) to Zero (0). Apply and exit. Even though you might see that it has not been configured or enabled it is still reserving 20% of your available Bandwidth by default even though it doesn't look like it is. You might notice a slight pause when going to a website that you have not previously gone to but it lasts only a few seconds ( 3-5 at the most ) but will get faster as you use the site more and more often. Be sure to print this out if you are considering doing it as you might need to reverse the changes if for some reason it gives you problems Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
