Unfortunately, it ends up coming out as unintelligible garble, “kj put, thre manns aprrcnghi frm the legt side” or something, and the only thing your team is concerned about is your sanity or your blood/alcohol level.Too true, or you don't quite manage to hide properly and die while typing, after which you delete your original message entirely and type up a suitable riposte that articulates your feelings perfectly (my choice word is 'bugger', ahhh bless the North)I agree about the entire online communication difficulty as well, as I said back in the Gamesroom, and as has been commented on in here too... Have you ever successfully co-ordinated any kind of attack on Battlefield 1942? Or even managed to get the majority of your allies to go the same way as you, and not to wait for planes to spawn?I do think the idea of a basic voice-styled package with online games would be good, but fear that I'd still be too timid to try such things out...I sound way too much like a particularly girly girl, who has been trapped in a room filled with helium for far far far too long... And plus, if those 1337 kiddies got their hands on it, I'd have to put up with their irritating jibes, taunts and accusations until I figured out how to mute them... and with my technical knowledge that could take a long long time...Anyhow, off to type sentence fragments into my computer in an attempt to dominate the battlefield once again.... A lot of us guys feel exactly same way, and also wish to progress through the fog of insane greed and stupidity that befouls the battlefield.Mind you, I do laugh so much sometimes I'd hate to miss out on those many hysterical moments through having an efficient means of communicating...BUT, you're both right. Been playing Battlefield 1942 online for a few nights now and it's all the more glorious when you've got some indication from your fellow team-mates they are reading your intentions and give you support, be it chasing down an enemy tank that's broken the front line or securing a strategic point. Nice to know you're on the same planet at least. Some of the inanity that goes on does, as has been commented, become a right pain in the arsenal; not knowing *who* exactly is your enemy makes for extreme annoyance - people shooting each other on same teams for instance! Crikey, the other night and playing the El Alamein map on Brit's side, and the most dangerous place to be was in your own base, NOT because of enemy attack from outside and it had progressed *way* beyond the orderly pickig off of fellow comrades dashing off to collect a plane - the whole aim of the game it seemed was to just kill each other. Yes, I do have a warped sense of humour sometimes (but only for a while), and even that scenario was fun!I don't know about you two at least, but I'd really like to make a concerted effort between us 3 for not necessarily getting serious and forming a clan, but just seeing if we can knock some form of co-operative strategy out between us and meet up sometime, other commitments notwithstanding (MIC or no MIC). I'm presently using Zen as I got fed up waiting to here news on the flat (delay after delay), so I do have broadband and can actually play online now without too much difficulty. Have yet to work out why the damn thing disconnects and reconnects so often though. Is that normal? (This results in me getting booted from server after just 5 mins sometimes - packet loss?). I dunno...Been damn quiet lately, so yes, more communication is a good thing and people contributing in shared interest is always worthwhile, makes it easier to find the path itself let alone help avoid those enemy tanks!"but who’s covering your back from his two other allies?
