He joined the Navy, August 1984 and began active duty service basic training in February 1985 Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois. He completed Hospital Corpsman School and served for three years as a Corpsman. After completing three years of active service, he transferred to the Reserves and then became a police officer in Connecticut.
