Windows ME - attempting to access FTP site through Internet Explorer 6.. no firewalls to my knowledge  ill check tomorrow though - i know it probly could be a simple setting that is wrong - i contemplated removing and reinstalling IE but i doubt this will make a difference as that has already been done when everything on the computer was restored - i also downloaded the ServicePack update which made no difference so i know its gotta be something simple causing the problem or a incorrect setting

it is very strange though as ive NEVER had this problem with THIS computer before - and it has even had the full system restore done before more than once

EDIT:

except i just remembered ONE change is that it no longer has the modem that came with it - and has the ISDN card from the other computer - which worked fine and could connect to the FTP

FTP Folder Error

Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.

Details: The connection to the server was reset

what do i do :( ive checked and i do not believe there is a firewall

ive checked all internet and folder options and i cant see anything that could cause this

i am still having no luck with this problem

i cant see as it could be an incorrect setting or error with Internet Explorer as it worked fine on this computer before the complete system restore... and i also downloaded a free FTP client which could not login to any FTP servers either.. so this leaves me believing it is to do with the ISDN card - maybe the driver is incorrect? as the one that came with the card did not work (wasn't compatible with WinME) and i had to download a driver from the manufacturer's website..is this a possibility? never had a problem with the ISDN card on the other computer when it was running Windows 98, and then Windows 2000 Pro

i have even now tried removing that "ISDN-128PCI" driver v4.00.08 from the system - and putting on the one for win98 that came with it (as the driver i downloaded was for Win98 AND WinME) - and i could connect to the internet fine now with the correct "ISDN-128PCI WAN-miniport + Capi 2.0" driver v3.10.01 (i installed the Win2000 one first time not knowing it should have been Win98  ) anyway i still cannot login into ftp servers on THIS computer - so it can "ONLY" be a incorrect setting, surely? :(
