xRun2 is designed to be a very full featured replacement for the standard Run dialog that ships with the Windows OS. It will launch programs, documents, websites, folders - pretty much anything that you may want to open - with a goal of making it as easy as possible.

xRun2 is an entire rebuild of the original xRun, and has many, many, more features than the first program did. For example:

Advanced configurable shortcuts: You may define almost anything as a shortcut, in almost any possible combination. Assign single characters, words, etc, providing a very flexible and powerful interface. While this is rather hard to sum up here, it'll be explained in much greater depth later.

Logical filename / parameter determination: Another advantage over the default Run dialog, xRun2 automatically seperates path & filename from any arguments you may of entered when launching a program, handling paths and filenames with spaces at the same time as multiple arguments.

Modular program communication: This allows modules to be coded seperately of xRun2 that can interface with the program while performing other tasks. A source framework for these modules will be made available so that anyone may take advantage of this ability.

Script interface: xRun2 can also interface with VBScripts, running code in individual modules and retrieving the result for display within the program.

Advanced skinnability & configuration:With the ability to design xRun2 skins with an unlimited number of user defined buttons, the ability to manage seperate skin files, total control over placement, size and even visibility of all controls, makes xRun2 truely able to become whatever anyone wishes. And of course, xRun2 still features transparency in almost all versions of Windows, even 9x!

Autocomplete, autominimize, always-on-top, task-switching, clipboard functions, and more!
