Sorry, the other one had been closed!

As I understand it, if you have a more powerful package, like say Photoshop, then "Desaturate" produces a "better" image, than converting to B/W. Personally I can't see much difference (at all!) however, I don't have the greatest of monitors, and I'm not an expert in these things!

I think that desaturate preserves more information or something?!
