512MB to 1Gig DDR RAM...Worth it???

Recommended Posts

Hi all ;) ,

Just been to Crucial and seen that the 512MB memory module for my PC is only £55inc vat now.

I have 512MB DDR Ram at present and wanted to know if getting another 512MB would increase anything?

ie...Will games/ applications or the computer in general run any better?

...Or am I just crazy to even consider it???

As always, all comments are welcomed ;)

it all depends on what you use your computer for of course. you won't notice a lot difference while using regular programs and o/s, if there is any increase in speed it will be slight. you'll really notice the difference in memory hungry programs , hi end games and stuff

ps: i see that you're still thinking of a message ;)

What's the bug in ME? I added another 256m without problems with caching, am now thinking of another 512 as I use a few graphics progs at the same time.

My Systemax caters for one and a half gig of RAM but I dont think I'll ever need that much.

whiz, Apparently Windows ME cannot take over 512mb ram.........its something to do with the memory management, anything over 512mb and it Caches the rest of it, supposedly slowing the system down.

God knows why microsoft released it with this bug!

But thats Bill Gate$ for ya!
