andsome
I have found this morning that if I right click on the start button and select 'Explore all users'. The icons in the window are all flashing on and off. I can stop this by reducing the size of the window, either by clicking on the box in the top right hand corner, or by dragging the window to a smaller size. This has never happened before. The computer is running absolutely normally otherwise, and is like lightning. I have run a system file check in sfc /scannow. I have run check disk. What on earth can be causing this to happen? If I click on start/accessories/Windows Explorer, then 'My documents' opens up instead of Windows Explorer.
Sir Radfordin
Second point is the way it works for me so I assume is the way it was designed to work. It does open up "My Docs" in explorer view.Don't get the flashing icons problem described initally - assume you have tried rebooting? If its any help my Nokia 8210 has similar symptons with some of its settings! andsome
It's never happened before. I have also run system restore back three days. As I say, the computer is normal in every other way, but I am puzzled to say the least.
Sir Radfordin
Having run system restore does it still do it?This is a feature I've never used in any OS.Out of interest (if still suffering) what happens if you do Windows Key+E?

The only way to stop it is to reduce the size of the window.

andsome
Someone on PCA supplied an answer, but funnily enough it has now stopped. I have downloaded a suggested registry tweak, and will keep it in a folder in case I do need it later.
