From gamesindustry.biz:

The second issue of Future's official Championship Manager magazine is set to hit newsstands at the end of this week, featuring an exclusive playable demo of the forthcoming Championship Manager 4 - which is currently slated to ship a month after the magazine's publication date.

In anticipation of the massive demand for the demo, as well as the editorial content of the magazine which includes a variety of exclusive features such as a first look at Sports Interactive's other forthcoming title, Eastside Hockey Manager, Future has raised the print run for the £5.49 magazine to 92,000.

This makes it into potentially one of the best selling games magazines in the UK, and certainly the most popular PC specific magazine - not bad for a publication entirely devoted to a single title! It also bodes well for sales of the game; the last PC version of Championship Manager topped 100,000 units in its first weekend on sale, and the team at Sports Interactive and Eidos will no doubt be hoping to beat that figure with this major overhaul of the franchise.

All of the non-editorial content of the magazine, including the playable demo, will be available on the date of publication (this Friday, February 28th) from Sports Interactive's website at sigames.com.

Although currently trying to connect to S.I.Games site results in this:

Dear CM Fan, due to some technical issues on our servers (totally unrelated to the CM4 Beta Demo we have not been able to connect you to the site. Please check http://community.sigames.com/1/OpenTopic?a...4126#8181924126  for details of how to download the demo (available from 10am on the 28th Feb 2003)

Wow - it's midnight now, so this game should shortly be 'officially' available, or at least that's how I read it.

Well, lots of kids expressing barely containable excitement as to this title, can't say I've ever been a fan of Championship manager type games, but a couple of old school mates of mine were never seen again since the originals hit the likes of Spectrum et al. Might be nice to let them know there are other formats to play these type of games now, that and the fact there is another world out there....

Will you be downloading this IP? From reading the forum posts, it sounds interesting, even to me. Though I always preferred the 3D version or better still the real thing. Though physically, of course, I am well past being able to kick a ball these days...

Never been a fan of such games really, past form dictates that when my star-studded Barcelona side have a pre-season friendly against a depleted Barnet, the result will invariably be a narrow 3-2 victory....

I would say I'd stick to the real thing.... but that's not much better....

Hey ho... back to the killing fields...

After the buggy first demo, a new one has been released based on gold code (not as fancy as it sounds), and the following release has been made:

We are very excited to announce that the English version of CM4 has now officially gone to gold master, and the game will be released in the UK & Eire on March 28th, 2003.

The non UK releases are due to go gold in the next couple of weeks, and should be out shortly after the UK release (specific release dates will follow when we have them).

We are still working on trying to get distribution sorted for the Americas, and more info will follow about that in the coming weeks.

Please note, if you live outside the UK and decide to import the UK version of the game, it is ONLY in English language.

An updated demo of the game will be released in due course, a further announcement with regards to this will be made on Friday

The new demo is available from Gamers Hell, Worthplaying, Computer Games Online and Sigames.com.
