Badger Posted May 16, 2004 Report Share Posted May 16, 2004 Hello, Can anyone answer my query,I am sure Powerlesscan.I have Drive Image 2002 XP Home and a second hard drive installed. I want to use a "Caddie" that I have been given, to house the second Hard Drive .This is connected by USB 2. I understand that I cannot use DI 2002 to image/restore,as this imaging in DOS. (or its equivalent)My question is does the newer Drive Image allow me to do this,or which software would best meet my requirements.I have read (somewhere) that you need "Microsoft.NET Framework" for the newer DI to work as I require. -pops- Posted May 16, 2004 Report Share Posted May 16, 2004 Drive Image 7 is the better solution for backing up Windows XP. DI 7 works from within Windows, not DOS. Regarding Net Framework, you can find out ALL about it from http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/Rather than using a caddy/ external enclosure for your second hard drive, have you considered attaching it as a slave to other IDE connector? Badger Posted May 16, 2004 Author Report Share Posted May 16, 2004 Thanks for your replies and your help.Pops,at the moment my second hard drive is installed internally as a slave to the second IDE.I was given this Caddie and thought if I could image my C drive and also use it to keep all my data (which is backed up to the drive)I could then remove it from the computer so that if it was stolen I would have all my data.(I know that I couyld not use DI to restore in those circumstances).Thanks for the info. re Net Framework.I did look at the site but cannot see any reference to anything I am querying.ellas seeing that you have DI 7 and have used it,can you tell me anything about this Net.Framework? do I need it to create an image to an external USB2 Hard Drive? It is very good at what it does PROVIDED that you do it properly. Badger Posted May 16, 2004 Author Report Share Posted May 16, 2004 Thank you very much for your advice and help.I am using DI 2002 at present and have my image on the second hard drive.I have just installed M/S Net..Framework version 1.1 in readiness for my getting DI 7. However,now when I start the computer instead of the welcome screen,I get a screen asking my to click on my user name. As I am the one and only user,I never had this before and would rather not have it now. I do not have to eneter a password,I now get a blue screen and the message asks me to click my user name. This is new since installing M/SNet.Framework.I tried typing "control password2" into the run command and pressed ok, but nothing happened. I looked in "User accounts" in the conttrol panel and now find that I have an account "ASP.Net Machine" what ever that is.!! I have deleted this. I still have M/SNET.Framework in the add/Remove progs. list,so presume I still have it installed. Can anyone shed any light on this ASP.Net Machine account"? Very strange. I have it now.I have as you suggested deleted the ASP NET Machine account. I do not know where it came from,was it you think when I installed this M/S Net Framework.or,as you say it is normal,have I always had it? Just curious-it is not a problem.
