I just recieved this in my mail..... I haven't tried it but I suppose it could while away an hour or two if someone has nothing to do!!! :)

THIS IS TRICKY, BUT IF YOU FOLLOW THIS YOU WILL ENJOY

ALL files can be downloaded from http://www.vpforums.com except windows scripting.

1) Install Visual Pinball.

Extract this zip to a temp directory and/or Run Setup, if you have a previous install select uninstall, and then run again to install this version. Let us assume you install it to C:\vpinball. Restart machine.

2) Install at minimum Direct 7 or higher then reboot.

3) Install the latest Windows Scripting.

4) If you are using the tables from AJ Pinball Install/Copy VPinmame, else skip this step.

Create a sub folder in the \vpinball directory called vpinmame.

Extract/copy the zip/files to this directory (make sure to set the directory extract option)

Create a Roms directory in the \vpinmame directory.

Create a Samples directory in the \vpinmame directory.

Create a Cfg directory in the \vpinmame directory.

Create a NVRam directory in the \vpinmame directory.

Create a Img directory in the \vpinmame directory.

Run Setup.exe in the \vpinmame directory.

Select the default directories you created as the path.

Also unselect Skip Test on the options screen after the directory screen.

5) Install Samples if using AJ Pinball

Copy the zipped samples file to \vpinball\vpinmame\samples

NOTE : the downloaded file will be called Pinmame_samples.zip. This MUST be renamed to Pinmame.zip

6) Install Fonts

AllFonts.Zip - File contains all released fonts that are needed for any table.

Install these fonts to your system prior to installing anything else.

7) Install Scripts.

Unzip this to your \vpinball\tables directory.

Notes: Do not erase anything installed by Vpinball install. If you erase even the demo tables it installs, it will constantly try to reinstall every time you double click a file to run.

8) Download and unzip the Tables from http://www.vpforums.com/vptables/tables.shtml (or from other pages)

In the zip package you may find various files...

.VPT files go in the vpinball\tables directory

.VBS files go in the vpinball\tables directory

.NV files go in the \vpinball\VPinMame\NVRam directory

.MP3 files go in the \vpinball\Music directory

.WMA files go in the \vpinball\Music directory

.MID files go in the \vpinball\Music directory

(all music files go in the \vpinball\Music directory)

.CFG files go in the \vpinball\VPinMame\CFG directory

9) Download the ROMs for VPinMAME from http://www.vpforums.com/vptables/tables.shtml (or from links on that page). You can tell which tables require which roms by looking al the list of tables at AJPinball (included on this disc - AJ's VPinMAME - Table Downloads.htm)

Put the zip file in \vpinball\vpinmame\roms - DO NOT unzip these files. NOTE : Some ROMs MAY require you to unzip and rezip. They dont work correctly if you use maximum compression, use normal compression. Many of these have been fixed, but some still linger. Some files also work if you create a sub directory with the name of the rom zip and unzip to that sub directory.

OPTIONAL

10) Install MIDI Plugin

Copy VPMIDI.DLL to windows/system folder. Next, go to a DOS prompt, either using MS-DOS PROMPT from the windows start menu, or typing CMD from the run line on the start menu

depending on your windows version. Type the following:

C:

CD\

CD Windows

CD System

REGSVR32 VPMIDI.DLL

EXIT

11) VPDisCo

Some tables from IRPinball require VPDisCo. When you unzip the table, if you see a vpdisco file, that table needs VPDisCo installing. Wont hurt to install anyway!

12) Install VPLauncher. Not actually needed, but makes life easier!
