I'm using XP Pro and I've been limited to 60 HZ refresh rate for as long as I can remember...but....tonight I was given a fix to enable silly refresh rates.

I'm currently running at 1024X768 75mhz refresh and I see no difference whatsoever...what am I doing wrong???????

Your pardon speaking out of turn (as a non techie) but I don't think you'll SEE any difference. What you may do is get less headaches. Slower refresh rate's tend to lead to more eye strain etc. Speed it up and you get less strain leading to less pain. Leave it for a while and see if it makes things nicer. (I believe XP also tends to drop out of faster refresh in games and there are fixes around for this too.)

Shirl - You won't really see any difference. The higher rates help with eye strain and headaches.

I believe that XP refreshes at 60hz as default. I think the rates you can have depend on your graphic card and your monitor. I have mine set to 1280x768x32colx85hz. If I run Media Player in full screen, when I quit the application, the screen has to re-refresh to 85hz from the 60hz it uses for Media Player.

also maybe your monitor doesn't support a high refresh rate as that ? i used to run (on an older monitor) a screen resolution of 1150x768 @ 75 hz but when i used a similar tool to change the refresh rate to 85 hz it didn't work when i went back later it would have reset back to 75hz.

does your monitor have that on screen display thingy's? coz the refresh rate is sometimes displayed there, should give you a better idea about the refresh rate whether it's 75 or 60 hz.

Thanks guys.

One thing I have noticed is,whereas before, when moving quickly between multiple windows they would sometimes..erm..leave imprints behind if you know what I mean and that doesn't happen now.

What I meant in the original (ahem drunken) post was that every time I tell people I use 60Hz they say that would make their eyes fall out in 5 minutes but 60Hz has never bothered me!!

Anyhoo thanks again :P

Here's a picture of Lisa Riley in a cossie (No not an Escort silly!)

Shirl - Whos been a noughty boy and not read my gamers FAQ :o

I have Win XP/Win 2000 and I cant run games at a refresh rate over 60Hz

If you run a game in Win XP or Win 2000 and it runs with a monitor refresh rate of 60Hz even though you have it set otherwise (you can tell because no matter what you try you cant get the game to fit properly on your screen) then go here http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/ and download a program called Refresh force to fix this issue.

:P :D     <_< :(  :o :D :D :D :D ;)
