Is their anyone running a Linux distro who has an AS Rock K7S8X mobo with a SiS746 chipset because I have tried to install FC2 Mandy 10 & Debian and non will complete the install and after searching around I have found it is a problem with the chipset.

So has anyone managed to get a Linux distro to run on this mobo if they have could you let me know which one. :angry:

I have had the exact same problem, i just gave up in the end.

I tried 6 or so distro's including Knoppix all with the same result.

If you manage to find a fix for the problem, please post it here so i can get linux installed on this system.

This is for Mandrake 10. it may work with other distros but I am not sure.

At the start screen hit F1 on next screen type at the flashing cursor

linux noapic nolapic

then hit enter, you may also need to specify your amount of memory which is given in an example on the same page

I am using Mandy 10 to send this reply.

I also sent this information to someone else with the same problem and it worked for him as well. :lol:

glad I could help, it is the first time I have been able to help anyone with linux.

I am normally asking for help.

I searched 5 forums for the same problem with AS Rock mobo`s and posted the solution on each one and yours is the second reply to have successfully installed it.
