cerio
Hi,I hope this is the right place to ask this...I use MSN messenger and like MSN plus but, when I install it, it brings a browser hijacker which changes my homepage setting and adds a toolbar, sometimes to the browser, sometimes to the bottom of my screen and redirects me to its own search page.Adaware and Spybot Search andd destroy don't seem to deal with it. Using Hijackthis, I was able to find and delete some files it put in but they just came back.It adds this to the homepage setting...http://mysearchnow.com/passthrough/index.h... then my homepage urlIt seems to be something to do with mysearchnow.comI have just reformatted my PC and, although I want to install msn plus, I don't want to until I find a solution for the hijacker stuff.Any ideas? Thanks C
nellie2
Cerio I would always advise people NOT to install messenger plus because of the spyware feature... but I have been told that you do have the option during installation not to install the spyware. I think you get the option not to install the sponsor. Here is some info for you... make up your own mindhttp://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/index.ph...084&hl=msn+plushttp://msgplus.mybboard.com/showthread.php?tid=21598Personally though, I would stay away from it! cerio
Hi,thanks, it seems I was just overlooking that option while installing which allows you to avoid all that invasive stuff. All is well nowI like Plus because it has a boss alert!C
Scarecrow Man
Well, first that toolbar wasn't MSN plus, it was probably MSN Messenger 6.2, which installs msn toolbar and changes your home page, as well as changes your internet explorer language (BHO). But, does not come up as spyware or adware, because it isn't.You can turn these options off. Just read the installer, there are options for all 3. You don't just click next without reading it all, do you? :D
