Rebel=UK=
Well today is not a good day for me. I left the computer on last night as i needed to download a big file, nothing unusual about that. Got up at 7am and went to check on my download/s turned monitor on expecting to see a lovely screen saying my download/s was done, but what i see is a black boot up screen telling me to "please insert boot disk and press enter" as you can imagine this was not good. Well i though ah a restart will fix this prob, so i restareted, only to see the same screen. I went in to the bios to make sure the HHD was set for main boot, it was. Now what i think to myself...."i know ill leave it off for abit that will fix it" 30mins later turned it back on only to hear the harddrive doesnt sound to good @ all........its borked. How did this happen?? its one of 2 things..1) someone has hacked in and wiped the the boot sector of the harddrive 2) Its just broke, but its not even a year old, so i though ill take the bugger back , only to find that i have every receipt for every bit of hardware i have ever bought apart from this haddrive (maxtor DimondMax 9 120gig 7200rpm). So i now have to pay £60 for a new one, and have lost everything as i havnt backed up in so long. Oh just rememberd i had alomost finished Farcry aswell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It took me 15mins to find this website address

Scarecrow Man
It's happened to me before. Only I was the cause :whistling:. It's hard, but you'll find that it forces you to start clean, and I find that once I know a program sucks, or I never use it, I don't install it again. Thus saving me room and resources. It also sucks when you loose things like pictures or school work. I've lost my fair share of those, and I still never back up my stuff! :o Don't cry over spilled milk, clean it up and get some more! Better milk!! B) Note to self: DO NOT remove your harddrive and carry it around to other peoples houses. That's what external harddrives are for.... jimv7
After you have reloaded your new hdd, install the old 1 in place of cd/cdrw on the secondary ide channel, if its at all accessable you should be able to recover some files from it. r4may
Hope you had a recent backup; it takes time but you only loose a small amount of work if you have one.
