grim_reefer Posted July 5, 2004 Report Share Posted July 5, 2004 i realise that the best way to create a website is to learn HTML coding - as most software writes awful code which doesnt even work properly on some computers/web-browsers, or is not as effecient as it should be. i need to create a professional site but i am setting up business and really dont have the time to learn the code.. IS there any web design software available out there that writes decent HTML code?? even if its still not perfect, i need something better than Micro$oft awful buggy productsall i have is a trial of NetObjects Fusion7, does anyone know if this program is worth using for this? or is there something better available for my needs????thank you Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Bruce Posted July 5, 2004 Report Share Posted July 5, 2004 If you are setting up a business, and need a professional looking site, and can't do it yourself, then I recommend one of your first business investments would be to hire someone to create the site for you.First impressions are everything. There is nothing worse then getting to a poorly laid out site, with a bunch of blinking flashing gifs/flash and other junk, or to get to a site that was created with "one" browser in mind.A professional looking site should be simple, no distractions, easy to navigate and WC3 web compliant. The tables, frames, and code should be standards compliant so that it displays exactly the same in all browsers. In other words your typical home made junk shouldn't even be a consideration. grim_reefer Posted July 5, 2004 Author Report Share Posted July 5, 2004 i know i have the ability to make a professional site.. and dont produce "home-made junk" lol never have, never will :D but the point is i cannot do this without software to assist me, or just understanding of HTML code so... :unsure: when i said i need a professional site.. i dont want one with fancy animations etc. and if i was writing the actual code myself (still home-made) - i would make sure it is standards compliant, and i am capable of designing something easy to naviagte without distractions and simple.. but what is "WC3"??? but back to the point - i dont know HTML code so i cannot write it myself to make sure it is done properly :( and this site doeznt need to have a lot of things for now - it just needs to be basic - but professional looking and fully functional.... it does not need to be high-budget (yet)! but as i was told before by someone else, there is no webdesign software which write HTML like that which you mentioned (compliant with standards so it works on all browsers) - is there??? :(basically, all the site needs for now is text and images.. nothing more.here is our current page (until we have an actual website): www.startermotordrives.co.uk/fishnetproductionsbut Micro$ucks stupid word cant even make our logo appear on the webpage created :angry: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Although my son's business isn't primarily concerned with web design, he employs a full time designer for this and uses a free lance as well.There was a website devoted to bad web design. FrontPage has always been and still is the absolute worst tool anyone could ever use to create web pages. It is in fact the exact thing I was trying to steer away from. It is designed to render pages in IE, and even then it doesn't render them correctly in certain versions of IE, never mind the other browsers that are out there.FrontPage has never been web standards compliant and never will be. It was designed with one goal in mind, keep people locked into a proprietary browser, and force them to upgrade to the latest garbage, so they can keep raking in the cash.When you start hitting all them funky pages on the web that just never seem to work correctly I'd be willing to bet that 90% of them were created in backdoor errr I mean front page.Sorry but I can't honestly remember anyone having a good bit of quality experience with html ever recomending FrontPage. I get nothing but half a green background in one browser. My other browsers get the green page with a black menu on the left however that menu is nonfunctional.Couldn't have provided a better example of why to avoid MS web creation tools.
