catgate
As soon as I saw on that website that government by committee was being suggested, and that that committee was to be selected by chance the same way as a jury, and in fact selected from the over 60 year olds, that was enough to turn me off.I wrote the material that ansome claims he has seen. I know that no where in the whole of the material does it propose government by committee. That, infact, would be little, if any, different to the present debacle. The "government" would be in the hands of the people who, just as MPs do at present, would vote on every issue. The committees that andsome has got all hot under the collar about are the committees that would, from time to time, monitor the working of Civil Service departments, just as current select committees do. They would, of course, be drawn from the over 60s who had been selected randomly (by computer?) to openly discuss the various measures needed to run a country and provide the pros and cons to the population before the matter was handed over to to the population be voted upon. How this constitutes government by committee completely baffles me.I do sincerely hope, however, that should this system ever come to fruition, ansome is by then too old to be eligable for "selection". If he were he could cause great hardship for his fellow "committee members" by making up his mind before knowing the facts!
