Ghost2 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Share Posted July 22, 2004 I'm running an older PC running windows 98 se. The problem is that every now and then, the text/icons on the start bar will disappear. Also, the time will go bold face, and change in size. If you continue to use it in this state, the text may come back and will often change to random fonts or sizes, then vanish again. The time once went to 20 pt bold. I scanned for viruses using AVG, but it came out clean. I think it may be a damaged .dll file somewhere, or perhaps some program I'm running is messing with the shell. If anybody has any advice please help. I've attatched a screenshot that may help. Those tasks in the taskbar with no text are usually what gets left behind when windows closes an app.Check out this and this and post your log in this thread. You may want to do scandisk as well. Ghost2 Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Share Posted July 22, 2004 No error messages. It just flicks out. Everyhing still works ok, its just the taskbar.
