But I believe windows formats the drive (or at least it's an option) when installing. And yes, your are going to have to Dual-Boot unless you only have 1 OS.. :bangin: Recap:You have WinXP installed. You want to install Win2k Server. Fine, slap the disc in, boot from CD and install it. There is nothing easier than dual booting 2 windows OS's.. It gives you a nice menu which you can select from, and with a little editing of boot.ini you can customize it to load a certion OS as default, and set your timeout.Any more info you need? Win2K Server just wants to install to the IDE device, without regard to any of the partitions. It just sees the hard drive, not the smaller partitions. :angry: This won't work. You will have to set your computer to boot from CD in the bios, unless you want to make a set of start up disks (4 floppy disks, which take like 20 minutes to load.....)You mentioned formatting for Linux - how do I format one of the partitions for Linux? (I'm not there yet, but almost).If your using fdisk, you can only make it fat32. If using a 3rd party program like Partition Magic, you would format the drive as ext2fs etc.. If your running your hard drive from an expansion board, you may have some troubles. It doesn't get detected by the bios during boot. (I think....) therefore when you insert the disk, boot from it, it may or may not load the drivers for that drive. This is where it gets confusing, because you have all these wierd partitions.. I suggest, just for the purpose of installing, remove all the drives, except the one that it will be installed on, and then configure the boot.ini manually.
