extremly effed up

well it was working since i last posted but now it has stopped for no reason what so ever! i have a wifi network set up and i want one computer withought the printer to connect to the one with the printer so i can print. the one withought the printer has the one with the computer listed in the "workgroup computers" but when you try to open it up it says that it was not accesable and that i might not have permission to access it. (i got it not to do this a while ago, when it was working but i didnt do anythng different!) now if i try to access the computer withought the printer using the computer with the printer it doesnt even reconise that their is another computer on the netowork. they both have the same workgroup and all that buisness. i am at my whits end. i also have simple file sharing enabled, whitch was why it wasnt working last time...

the thing is, it is not ad-hok or whatever, they are both connected to a router and they are not connected to eachother, but it used to work just fine so i dont get it!

so i jsut messed around a little here and it seems that every time i go through the network setup wizard/enable romote access on wither computer it delets all the ip address info that i have on my connection to my router. I delets the info i have in for my:

Dafault getaway

Subnet mask

ip address

so, how do i connect to the internet the way i am now and have remote access enabled???????????????

Whats operating systems are you running? Have you received an error regarding spooling not started?

they are both connected to a router and they are not connected to each other,

One of the machines is hard wired to the router and that will be the one with the printer attached I take it. Have you changed the routers firewall at all? Do you have third-party firewall/monitoring software installed? If you're using XP are the built in firewalls turned off?

The most important thing is to post the O/S's

on both of them: xp pro, i have seygate personal firewall but it aloways either asks you or atleast notifies you if it is blocking somthing. neither of these 2 computers is wired to the router. i have another differnet computer that doesnt really matter at this pont whitch is and before when this whole thing worked i was able to print off that one too. im prutty sure that when it was working, they were connecting by going through the router, becuase aparently they cant connect to the router and directly to eachother at once. DHCP is off not but if i turn it on, will it mess up my internet connection? i dont know what alot of this stuff means, i am however prutty damn good at computers but networking is new to me. i have gotten networks to work in the past but then they stop working and it s aloways a mistery. i have encryption on but both computers use the same wep key.

for DHCP, what should i put in for:

# of DHCP users? (i have 7 accounts on each of the 2 computers becuase my dad re-married someone with kids to so our family is big.)

starting ip address?

client lease time?

DNS one two and three?

WINS?

I assume you're setting this up on your router from the questions you're getting, is that correct?

The starting IP depends on the network your router's on. What's the IP Address of your Default Gateway (router)? If it's 192.168.1.1 set up the following:

# of DHCP users? 50

starting ip address? 192.168.1.50

client lease time? 5 days

DNS one two and three? You'll have to get this info from your network, or your Internet Service Provider. If you'll provide me with your outside IP Address, I may be able to help.

WINS? You don't need WINS for an all XP network, so you can leave this blank.
