Tired of spam with your blueyonder e-mail address?

Want to delete that mail box for a few days, so the spam bounces back? But can't delete the main mailbox because, blueyonder won't let you, well read on and i will show you how

First things first go to and sign in http://selfcare.blueyonder.co.uk/IIPSC/index.do

login.JPG

Next Click on Add-Edit-delete e-mail aliases

loggedin.JPG

next tick the little box with your useranme and then go to the bottom of the screen and add a new e-mail address (just add the name and NOT the @blueyonder.co.uk) then click Go

mail.JPG

The next screen you see is now with your new e-mail aliases and the one that can't be deleted is the main one, which is greyed out

Next go back to the selfcare home page

Now click on the Rename PWP space

pwp.JPG

Next on the drop down bar on the right hand side you will see your new e-mail address alias, select that ( if you use your Personal webspace, you will have to rename that for a few days)

After you have done that, go back to the selfcare home link

selfcare.JPG

Next go to the Add-Edit-delete e-mail aliases

loggedin.JPG

You will now see that your original e-mail alias is no longer "greyed out", now check the box, go down to the bottom of the screen and click on delete

Your email address is now deleted and the spam will now bounce back. Wait a few days and then reverse the procedure and you will have no spam

I used to bounce spam using Mailwasher - but it made no difference - probably made it worse by validating my Email address. Hence I no longer bounce mail.

Why will this method work better?

I assume that all legitimate messages received during the "black-out" period will also be bounced - or am I being thick again? If this is the case it would make it difficult for me to adopt it.

I assume that during the "black-out" period your original Email address is no longer in the Blueyonder data base and could be registered by a new blueyonder customer preventing you from going back. Maybe a slim chance - but could it happen?

As a blueyonder broadband user who receives about 150 spam messages a day, I would love to find a good solution and this one sounds interesting.

The message below is what the spammer will get immediately, with no time delay

The e-mail account does not exist at the organisation this message

was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient

directly to find out the correct address.

The reason it should stop the spam as the spammer will then think it is an invalid address and remove you from there data base.

Unfortunately all "legitimate messages" will "bounce back", however, e-mail all your address book, like i did, that my account is out of action for a few days and give them your other alias.

With regards to your other questions, yes there is a possibility that someone could take your e-mail address, although highly unlikely.
