This is the error message I recieved..."Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime LibraryBuffer overrun detected!Program C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\IEXPLORE.EXEA buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated."What does that mean? I tried reinstalling windows to repair IE but the same problem ocurred after installation. expertec Posted September 14, 2004 Report Share Posted September 14, 2004 Quick Google reveals this, which I would have suggested anyway:That error can definitely be indicative of a spyware/virus infection; please start a new thread in our Security forum stating the full and exact text of the error as well as the contents of the logfile generated by HijackThis. Do not post your log in this thread; HJT logs belong only in the Security forum!Before running HJT, make sure you are not running it from any Temp/Temporary Internet folder or directly from your desktop. Instead, create a separate folder for HJT such as C:\HijackThis or C:\Spyware Tools\HijackThis, move HJT to that folder and run it from there. Also make absolutely certain that Internet Explorer is completely closed before doing the scan. 107606 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Report Share Posted September 15, 2004 Cheers moon. I have been into msinfo32 from Run, and run the IE repair tool. It ran and restarted my computer, but nothing else changed. Still the same error message when i tried to start IE. I'll see what I can do with Firefox, but now I dont have a broadband connection because I had to reinstall Windows. So I called ntl last night and they need IE working to reinstate my connection. Good luck. :)Edit; Just a thought. Go into IE/Tools/Internet Optons/ Settings and see what the 'Amount of disc space to use ' is set to. Mines at around 60 MB. I have put Firefox on there, looks nice, but the goddamn ntl service line was down due to a technical problem (quite ironic really) so couldnt see if they knew how to get my connection going again through Firefox.If anyone knows how one might do this (get my broadband connection going again after a windows reinstall), please let me know!!
