Hi all you internet minded people.

I recently reinstalled Windows and now my ntl broadband connection has been lost. Can anyone help me get it back through Firefox (my IE is bust) as the ntl tech line is also down (would they know how to get it going thro Firefox i ask myself).

Hope you can help (I have found all you people out there to be very friendly, patient and helpful, long may it be so, as us computer know-nothings need you!).

If you haven't been able to get your broadband since you re-installed windows then you may need to run your installation CD again. Do you have your user name and password handy?

If your connection has just died, well you may need to re-set it. I connect through my set top box and every now and then I have to pull the plug out and then plug it back in again to reset it.

Whats up with IE? have you tried a repair?

Have a look at my other postings dotted around the place and you'll see my IE problem, Buffer Overrun. I've tried repairing but to no avail.

I have run the installation again but it gets so far and then theres a problem and it stops. No connection somewhere along the line.

It happened last time i reistalled windows and i called ntl and they told me to do something or other because they couldnt detect a connection at their end. It didnt work at the itme so i carried on fiddling and it came back. I dont remeber what i did tho!

They would probably be able to help if their line was working and it was IE. But I'm not sure they will be able to with Firefox.

Any ideas?

If you have once been connected with NTL, you don't need the CD again. Just use the internet wizard and enter all your details including password etc. If your modem is not working try unplugging it, and closing down the computer. Restart the computer after a while and then reconnect the modem. Providing you have entered everything correctly there should be no problem. If there is then phone them and they can check your modem while you are on the phone.
