Hurdy
Existing setup is a maxtor 120gb ide drive with an adapter to enable it to run on the NF7-S sata port.I have installed an Hitachi 160gb SATA150 drive and want to transfer everything over onto the new drive. Both drives show up on the Sil screen during boot-up however, the new drive doesn't appear in XP' s 'My Computer'. It does appear in device manager. How can I get Windows to fully recognise my new drive so I can transfer my files over?
christmascracker
Have you formatted it?
bvw
Boot Windows to your desktop and then click Start, Run and Type:diskmgmt.mscClick OK.Your new drive is shown as Disk1 and you need to initialize the disk before you can partition and format.http://www.windowsforum.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=10021Try the above. Hurdy
Bugger!I went ahead and installed XP on it which necessitated that it should be formatted.I am now attempting to run the file transfer wizard which doesn't seem to like going between two drives only two PCs. Long-winded but hopefully getting there......
